Workforce Education

MHRCET provides Comprehensive Education and Awareness Training (CEAT) designed for professionals working in and outside of the mental health field. No experience or knowledge is required to participate.

Interested parties will be required to provide information related to programs currently available to workers and attend a pre-screen interview to assure incoming services are consistent with organizational needs.

The CEAT includes wide-ranging training session(s) comprised of an employee component and supervisor training for program staff. Training packages focus on the following:

Employee Component

  • Comprehensive review of common mental health illnesses
  • Cultural competency training (target population being served and best practices for supporting individuals with mental illness)
  • Indications of substance abuse
  • Utilizing technology to learn about and engage with service providers
  • Review of confidentiality and ethical responsibility for mental health programs
  • Detailed review of critical situations and strategies to identify and address each situation
  • Identifying community resources and strategies
  • How to educate family, friends, and co-workers on identifying mental illness
  • How to develop a community resource list
  • Review of program responsibilities

Supervisor Training Component

  • Supervisor education and training review and assessment
  • Recommendations for continual training, team meetings, and other components of effectively supervising staff
  • Overview of essential components and strategies for effective supervision
  • Discussion of potential problems in mental health programs
  • Introduction to developing program goals and objectives
  • Strategies for addressing onsite incidents and how to defuse the situation
